This year’s iteration of Maison&Objet – running in Paris from 6 to 10 September – is almost in view. We’re nursing a budding excitement for everything the fair will have on offer: from new homewares, and residential design and decoration, to its overarching focus on the latest for the home.

The fair recently named French architect Laura Gonzalez as its Designer of the Year. It’s an accolade that is telling not only of the 37-year-old’s talents but also of the growing appreciation of “tasteful maximalism”, to borrow the words of Gonzalez, who is a regular practitioner of well-honed eclecticism. While this is likely to unfurl across the fair’s four days, it could very well be indicative of a new wave of sophisticated mixing and matching. Here’s hoping!
